even for you

you and me baby
we speak so many thoughts
we have none left for poetry

is it true that good art
requires a lonely,
aching soul?

and after a life of melancholy
and understated drama..
can i give up that beautiful art,
that bittersweet sadness,

…even for you?

as it happened

as it happened
you were the one to
implode me

they say we never learn
but now i know
to always let the
sweet syrupy juices
pool and gather
marinate in their sugary goodness
be present
feel gratitude for each moment
of messy love
that we have.
